The founding team.
Steven Miller is the co-founder and Lead Archivist of Piocent Labs, which he co-founded in 2023 at University of Minnesota. Steven attended University of Minnesota, Twin Cities for undergrad and the first year of his PhD before transferring to the Department of History at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Steven specializes in United States social and political history in the 20th century, focusing primarily on the administration of Richard Nixon, Watergate, and the social movements of the 1960s and 1970s. He critically examines how political processes have been influenced by social movements of this era, including their impact on policy under the Richard J. Daley administration in Chicago.
As a PhD student, Steven taught HIST 1811 The Sixties: History and Memories, a University of Minnesota undergraduate course in the Department of History. Steven was given overwhelmingly positive feedback from his students for his teaching methods.
Steven has vast experience in the field of archival research. He spent his first year at UW-Madison engaging in archival research which analyzed University documents related to social and political movements during the Vietnam War and the Nixon Administration led or organized by students and faculty of UW-Madison. He is currently on exchange status at DePaul University where he is focusing on his dissertation research utilizing archival sources in Chicago.
